Summary: Fai is supposed to supervise a high school dance in the ice rink, but there's just one small problem.
Author Notes: Horitsuba verse. I've been writing alot of Horitsuba Christmas fics. This one's for
gacktyougirl because a scenario in a conversation we had worked its way in here.
“Fai-sensei?” Yuzuriha started as she approached the desk where he was busy grading labs. Well, okay, he was drawing stick figure porn on the labs because they had been graded for a few days but he decided the class needed stirred up a bit. He straightened the papers and shoved them in a drawer before glancing up at his student with a large smile meant to reassure her and in no way make her think he had been doing something he should not have been. “The school is hosting a dance for the high school division, and we’re in need of more supervisors.”
“Sure thing, Yuzuriha-chan,” he said with a smile. Spending time with the students would be fun. Especially if he got the chance to dance with some of the girls. “Where did you say it was?”
“On the ice rink over by the northern stables.”
He tried not to let her notice his reaction and struggled to keep his smile up. “Excuse me, Yuzuriha-chan, but when did you say this dance was going to be?”
“This Friday.”
“I’m sorry, Yuzuriha-chan, but I actually don’t think I’m free that evening.”
Her smile faltered, but she thanked him for his time before walking back to her desk.
Confident that he had made his way safely out of that problem, he pulled the papers out and continued with his stick figure porn. Several hours later, he had finished with his stick figures and was flipping through the stack of papers to watch them move. He flipped through the papers again, wondering if the broody gym teacher would find him so they could act out the scenario he had drawn.
“Quite impressive, Fai-sensei,” the chairman said from directly behind his shoulder. He jumped and Yuuko snatched the papers away and started flipping through them on her own. “I’m sure your students will appreciate seeing you and Kurogane-sensei having sex in stick figure form as well.” She handed the papers back to him, and he shoved them in his desk drawer to be returned to the students tomorrow. “Fai-sensei, I need to talk to you about the high school dance. We’re in need of two more supervisors, so we drew names from a hat. You and Kurogane-sensei are it.”
“But, Yuuko-sensei,” he protested, turning around his chair in an attempt to give her the puppy dog eyes.
“That won’t work on me. You’re going to supervise that function,” she told him before walking out the door.
“But, Yuuko-sensei.” It was too late; the door had already shut behind her. “I don’t know how to skate,” he finished weakly. If it wasn’t bad enough that the students were going to be having fun while he had to watch them, the chairlady had to go and throw Kurorin-sensei into the mix as well. His only consolation there was that even if he was skating, Kurogane would most likely not be having fun. Still, that didn’t mean he necessarily wanted Kurogane to know that he couldn’t skate.
No matter how he tried to get out of it over the course of the next few days, Yuuko refused to budge on the issue, and Friday evening found Fai sitting on the edge of the rink watching the students dance and skate by. They looked like they were having so much fun. He had put skates on, but still had yet to set foot in the rink.
Sakura stopped in front of him for the third time, flanked on either side by Syaoran-kun and Tomoyo-chan. “Fai-sensei, would you like to dance with me?” Sakura asked him with a hopeful smile.
“Sorry, Sakura-chan, but I’m tired and need a break.” She nodded sadly and went skating away with her two friends. With a sigh, he looked down to the ice. Before long, she was replaced by a pair of black pants with yellow stripes that Fai was very familiar with. “Kurorin-sensei!” he greeted him happily even though the other teacher was wearing his typical scowl and had his arms crossed.
“What the hell is up with you tonight?” Now there was absolutely no way Kurogane could have been that observant to notice he had not moved from that spot all evening. “Your princess has been over here three times to ask you to dance, not to mention the legion of other fangirls, and while you normally want to spend time with her, all three times she has skated off without you.” Did Kurogane not even care about the students he was supposed to be supervising?
“Don’t you have someone else you can be hovering over?” he teased, trying to frustrate Kurogane to the point where he would just skate away and leave him there. Apparently, it was not his lucky evening.
“No. And what’s worse is that you have the opportunity to embarrass me in front of a hundred students and you haven’t come within five feet of me all evening.”
“I though Kuroru-sensei didn’t like it when I embarrass him in front of the students.” It was sadly true; when they were on school property Kurogane liked to pretend he had nothing to do with Fai. Except for when he though they were alone, and those times Kurogane tended to be unable to keep his hands off of him.
“I don’t. But I worry about your health when you’re not doing it.” Which was far too endearing an sentiment for Fai’s tastes. Granted there were times when he liked the gruff man’s clear attachment to him, and sometimes he thought he felt the same attachment to Kurogane. But most of the time he was just scared. “So do you want to tell me why you haven’t moved from that bench all the evening?”
“Kurorin-sensei is so incredibly cute when he’s concerned about me.” Kurogane glowered at him and took three strides back. Fai thought perhaps he had won, and the larger man would be leaving him alone for the rest of the evening.
“Get over here and I’ll let you kiss me in front of the students.” Fai thought he had to have been hearing things, but Kurogane calmly repeated himself when Fai stared at him blankly.
He simply couldn’t refuse something like that; Kurogane was offering himself to be embarrassed in front of the vast majority of the high school students. Granted, only a handful of them would see them, but if Fai was lucky one of them would have a camera. He shakily stood and put one foot on the ice, all the while aware that Kurogane was watching him intently. To have Kurogane see him fall would be too much. He cautiously put his other foot onto the ice. Okay, this wasn’t that bad. All he had to do was move forward three Kurogane strides, and he could claim his kiss. After a deep breath, he tried to move forward and promptly lost his balance.
Luckily, he never hit the ice as Kurogane swept forward and caught him, supporting him in his large strong arms that Fai wasted no time in feeling up under the guise of supporting himself. “Ne, Kurotan-sensei, since I made it over to you, can I still get my kiss?”
“A quick one,” he grudgingly allowed, and Fai leaned up to give him a quick kiss on the cheek. Fai was just grateful that Kurogane was still holding him and supporting him. “So you can’t skate, eh?” Fai nodded in confirmation and tried to support more of his weight on Kurogane. “Which is odd because you have impeccable balance.”
“Kurochi-sensei is so observant,” he murmured, nuzzling against the larger man’s chest.
“Alright. We’re going to teach you how to skate.” And that was the problem with being involved with a teacher. He always wanted to teach him the things he didn’t know. Granted, Fai had often tried to teach Kurogane some chemistry which had always resulted in the other man rolling over and going to sleep.
“You know, Kurotan-sensei, I really don’t think this is such a good idea.” But it was too late; Kurogane had already let go of his body and was holding onto his hands instead. He tried not to panic when Kurogane started looking him up and down. He jumped when Kurogane bent down to reposition his legs. Really, he should have gotten used to something like that. Just not in public in front of the students. “Really, Kuro-sama, so frisky in front of the children.”
“Shut up,” he growled as he straightened back up. “Your stance was all wrong which was probably one of the reasons you kept falling.”
“Do you always get so touchy-feely with your students?” Fai asked as Kurogane let go of one of his hands which instantly made him panic as it was his primary support system.
“If I need to correct their form, yes.”
“Pervert.” He seriously wondered how Kurogane had avoided any major lawsuits.
Kurogane seemingly ignored him as he positioned himself beside him. As soon as he stopped moving, Fai reached across his body to grab hold of the hand holding his other hand. “Now, watch my legs, and do what I do.”
He tried, he really did, but he kept getting the feeling that he wasn’t actually doing anything and Kurogane was simply dragging him along. “Hey, look, we’re moving,” he laughed nervously once they were more than two feet away from the safety of the bench he had been sitting on. He would never be able to make it back there on his own. He stumbled, but Kurogane caught his arm to steady him again. “Can I go sit down now/”
“No. You’re doing fine.” He didn’t think he was doing fine, but he currently couldn’t get anywhere without Kurogane, and the gym teacher was pulling him further away from his safety net with every stride. “Now, let go with your one hand.” He panicked and clutched even tighter to Kurogane’s arm, almost causing the two of them to fall to the ice. “Trust me, I’m not going to let you fall.”
Reluctantly he let go with his one hand, only on the condition that Kurogane was not going to let go of his other hand. The instant he felt the man loosening his grip even in the slightest, he swore to jump on the man’s back and not let go until he was safely deposited back on solid ground where he could take those stupid skates off and put them somewhere where he would never have to look at them again. Kurogane’s larger hand was comfortably encompassing his even though they were getting further away from his safety place.
“You’re doing just fine,” he was reassured again. He still felt like this was basically being dragged around by Kurogane, but at least it was starting to feel natural. “I’m going to let go of your hand now.”
“Don’t you dare.” He tried to grab onto Kurogane, but the man had already let go of him and was rapidly moving away from him. “Kurosama-sensei~!” He made another desperate attempt to lunge after the other man. Kurogane was skating backwards in front of him, always staying just out of reach. “Not fair.” He couldn’t understand why Kurogane was smiling at him in that manner.
“Oi, idiot, do you have any idea what you’re doing right now?” He resented being called an idiot and pouted as he reached for Kurogane again.
Suddenly it dawned on him that if Kurogane was skating backwards and staying just out of reach, that meant he had to be moving forward. He had been so busy trying to get back to his safety zone so he wouldn’t have to skate that he hadn’t realized he had been skating to get there. “Kurotan-sensei! Look at me! I’m skating!”
“I can see that.” Fai laughed and threw his hands up in the air. Kurogane had actually taught him how to skate. For no reason other than he cared and wanted Fai to have a good time with the students.
Fai jumped into the other man’s arms as Kurogane stopped to catch him. He wrapped his arms around the other man’s neck as the phys ed teacher’s arms encircled his waist. Maybe he didn’t really have to be scared around Kurogane; after all, the man had not let either one of them fall on the ice. He leaned up to kiss Kurogane intensely despite the fact that students were circling around them.
“No tongue,” Kurogane ordered against his mouth.
“I skated a long way. That should make my reward extra special.”
Now new Tsubasa should come out.
