Big damn table here.

Five days and Kurogane was left sitting alone on the couch without an answer. He thought he would have had a roommate by this point, but all he had was a wriggling mass of black fur itching her back on the couch next to him. He hadn’t had sex in five days either. A lack of classes had prevented him from even seeing the blonde, and he was too nervous to try to track the man down at his apartment. The puppy rolled to her feet and, whimpering, started to lick Kurogane’s fingers. “Your mother should be here to pay attention to you,” he told her, scratching her behind the ears. He leaned his face too close to her and she started licking his nose instead. At least if he didn’t get Fai he would be able to keep the puppy, considering he had already paid for her and everything. A knock at the door caused him to pull away from her. “Who is it?” trying not to get his hopes up that it could possibly be Fai.

“Yuuko-sensei!” He rolled his eyes; she was probably the last person he wanted to see at the moment. “I’m coming in.” The puppy moved to hide behind his hand as the chairlady barged in. “I just came to see how you and Fai-sensei were adjusting to married life.” He glared at her. “I brought Souma-sensei and Tomoyo-chan.” He grunted in acknowledgement of the two of them as they entered. They weren’t that bad, and the two of them might be able to negate the negative energy he produced at the presence of the chairlady. “And Sakura-chan and Syaoran-kun.”

“Not the newlyweds.” They stepped into the apartment in perfect synch, hands clasped as they nuzzled each other. “Anything but the newlyweds,” he groaned. He and Fai should be doing that, preferably naked and in their bed.

They remained nuzzling by the doorway while Yuuko investigated the apartment and Tomoyo and Souma made themselves comfortable. Kurogane took another sip of his beer as the chairlady stepped into his bedroom. “Kurogane-sensei.” She was scowling when she stepped out of the bedroom. “Where is Fai-sensei?”

“Not here, obviously.” The newlyweds remained obliviously entranced with each other. Souma had enough sense to gain an intense interest in the beer can she had pulled from his refrigerator. Tomoyo conveniently started playing with the puppy on the couch. “I would like to thank you for reminding me of how miserable I am.”

“What the hell did you do wrong?” she asked walking over to hover over him.

“He had to have screwed it up,” Tomoyo joined in from where she was playing with the puppy. “This little face is too adorable to refuse.” He grimaced as she kissed the puppy on the nose.

“I didn’t screw it up,” he said defensively, trying to sink deeper into the couch. He shook the can; damn, he was running low on beer and the visitors were showing no sign of leaving. “He just said he was going to have to think about it.” Then Fai had pushed the puppy back into his arms, and he had bolted from the apartment. Kurogane had not heard from him since.

“Kurogane-sensei, I hope you like living like a bachelor, because it sounds to me like you struck out.” Yuuko grabbed one of the beers from his fridge and collapsed at the table.

“I didn’t strike out,” he said, taking another sip of his beer. “Did I?” Damn doubt, creeping into his mind. He blamed the witch.

“I’m sorry, Kurogane.” Well, this certainly was not turning out the way he had hoped. He wasn’t going to give up though until the blonde came back and told him personally that he was not going to move in with him. In the meantime, he had the feeling he was going to need a lot more beer. Especially since the newlyweds were still cuddling in the corner. Damn newlyweds.

He was curled up in a ball on the couch waiting for the person he needed to come back. He kept running Kurogane’s preposition through his mind, making him curl into a tighter ball. He would have been biting his nails, but he had essentially destroyed them over the course of the past five days. Unable to come up with an answer on his own and absolutely petrified, he had decided he needed to talk to someone. Five days later had found him waiting on this person’s couch.

The front door slammed, and Fai looked back over his shoulder to look at the man. “Fai, how did you get in here?” the man asked, taking his jacket off and throwing it over the back of a kitchen chair.

He sat up and swung his legs over the side of the couch. “I own this apartment, remember? I still have a key.”

“I see.” He watched as Ashura pulled a kettle out of the cupboard, filled it with water and placed it on the stove. “Would you like some tea?”

“Yes, please, no lemon.”

“I remember.” He pulled two mugs out from the cupboard. “So, have you finally decided you’re going to ask me to move out? Is that why you’re here?” As long as Ashura continued to pay the rent, he didn’t care if he lived there. Fai had never particularly cared for that apartment anyway. Moving out had felt really good for more than one reason. “I thought after your boyfriend showed up that one day you were going to kick me out for sure.”

“My boyfriend?”

“That really handsome young man that stopped by here one day looking for you,” Ashura explained as he prepared the tea. “He looked maybe ten years younger than you, intense red eyes, short dark hair, extremely muscular…” Okay, Ashura fantasizing about Kurogane was too much for his brain to handle under current circumstances. “Anyway, he stopped by here asking for you. He seemed really desperate to find you and not too happy to find me here. It was rather sweet how concerned he was.” Ashura handed him one of the mugs. “Is he not your boyfriend?”

“Actually, that’s kind of what I needed to talk to you about,” he admitted, setting the tea mug down on the table without even tasting it.

“Oh no.” Ashura put his mug down and moved to sit down next to him on the couch. “Don’t tell me he broke up with you.” Fai shook his head. “A lover like that, I don’t think I could sell you anything strong enough.” Ashura had wrapped one arm around his thin shoulders.

“He didn’t break up with me; he asked me to move in with him.” Sometimes he wondered if things would have been easier if Kurogane would have broken up with him.

“Oh,” Ashura pulled away from him. “Then you why are you risking fucking up your relationship with that fine specimen of a man by coming and talking to me?”

“Because I’m scared,” he admitted, picking up the mug of tea as a safety blanket. “There are some things about myself that I haven’t told him that I’m afraid if he finds out about them he’ll hate me.”

“Well, considering you never talk to me anymore, and I’ll admit with good reason, I don’t know muck about your relationship with this man.” Okay, so maybe Ashura might not have been the best person in the world to talk to about his current relationship problems and Yuuko would have been able to provide more useful information. Still... “But what I do know is this man has every reason to believe you are living with another lover and yet he still loves you enough to ask you to move in with him.”

He sighed and took a sip from his tea. Even if that was true, it didn’t help him out. “I don’t know what to do.”

“Yes, you do. The fact that you are even here asking me for advice suggests you are deeply attached to this man and that scares you so you’re trying to fuck it up. But, Fai, Yuuko-san has put too much money into you for me to allow you to fuck up again. This guy could be what you’re looking for.” Fai took another small sip of tea. “And before you leave, do you think you can tell me a little about your relationship with that man?”

Fai gave a small, weak laugh. “Well, I’ve been sleeping with him for about three and a half years, three exclusively.”

“It’s so adorable that you’re finally in love.” Yuuko had been accusing him of being in love for years.

“That’s not true. And it’s a long story. Are you sure you want to know it?”

“Of course I do.” Which was surprising because Ashura had never taken interest in his relationships before. But since he really wanted someone to talk to…

Damn women, drinking all his beer. In the brief time that they had been there, Yuuko and Souma had managed to completely deplete the beer he had in the fridge. In fact, the chairlady had just popped the tab on the very last beer, and he growled at her. Damn woman. At least Fai had enough sense to leave the beer stash alone most of the time. To make matters worse, the newlyweds had disappeared somewhere. “Where did Sakura and Syaoran go?” Tomoyo asked pulling a sleeping puppy into her lap.

“They’re probably having sex somewhere,” Kurogane growled. Lucky bastards.

“I’m sorry, Kurogane-sensei. I know Fai-sensei was rather special to you.”

“He still is.”

“Good. We should leave you alone to your thoughts.” The chairlady patted him on the shoulder before walking out the door.

“I really hope this works out for you, Kurogane,” Souma told him before she left, Tomoyo following closely behind her.

“Oi, princess, the puppy stays with me.” With a sheepish grin, she scurried back into the apartment and deposited the puppy back into his lap. “Thank you,” he called after her as she rushed back out of the apartment.

The puppy whimpered and curled into a ball in his lap. He rested his hand on her as he leaned against the back of the couch. He would have preferred it much more if Fai’s head was in his lap, but that didn’t seem like he was going to be happening anytime soon. He ended up falling asleep on the couch, one arm curled around the puppy.

“I should go,” Fai said from right inside the doorway after pulling on his jacket. “I’m moving in with Kurogane tomorrow.”

“Good luck with that. Oh, wait, I have something for the two of you.” Ashura rummaged around in the cupboard and emerged with a wad of cash that he handed over to Fai. He had a difficult time keeping his eyes in his head; he was holding at least one hundred thousand yen. “Think of it as a wedding present and buy a new bed.”

“Thank you, but Kurogane already has a rather comfortable bed.” He spent quite a bit of time in that bed, and it would take them a while it break in a new one to make it comfortable for sex.

“Well, then buy yourself a condom factory. I’m sure you two could use it.”

Fai looked at the wad of money in his hand. “I don’t think there’s enough here to actually buy a condom factory.” Though that was an interesting thought. “Look, what am I going to tell him if he asks me where I got the money?”

“Tell him it’s the deposit back from your old apartment.”

“Oh, I won’t be getting that back. Kurogane and I smashed a hole in the wall one day when we were having sex. It was actually rather painful.”

“I see. Then pretend it’s a wedding present from an old friend.”

“I thought that’s what it was.” He was about ready to drop the money and run. He wasn’t sure if he even wanted to know why he was being given the money.

“Actually, it’s some of the money I still owe you for the tapes.” He had no idea how Ashura could say that so calmly when the very mention of the tapes made him want to curl back up on the couch.

Kurogane definitely would no like those tapes. He would not like those tapes at all. “Hey, do me a favor. If you have any more copies of those tapes, please destroy them.”

“Sure thing, Fai,” Ashura reassured him as he stepped out the door. He had to go home and pack because he was going to be moving in with Kurogane. Now if only he could feel more comfortable about the entire situation.

“Oh, yeah, Fai, that’s nice,” he mumbled. “Ye~es, Fai.” Eventually he woke up and realized it was not a sexy blonde nibbling and licking his earlobe but a little black puppy. “Oh, it’s the nameless puppy.” He lifted his hand to pet her, and she whimpered and licked his chin. “You know what’s disturbing is that he actually slobbers more than that over me. And you, sweetheart, are much gentler with the teeth.” He hated waking up on the couch. He was always so stiff afterwards. He stretched and sat up with the puppy cradled in one arm. “Looks like it’s just you and me, little girl, because I’m about to give up on him.” She whimpered and pawed at his face.

“Alright, buddy, where do you want us to put this stuff?” He jumped and clutched the puppy closer to his chest as three men with boxes came barging into his apartment.

“Who the hell are you guys? And what the hell happened to my lock?” It was nice to know he had not gotten a guard dog as she was too busy trying to bury her nose in his chest.

“We’re movers,” the guy in front with the cigar said. “We’re helping your new roommate move in.” New roommate? “Now where the hell do you want us to put his shit?”

“In here’s fine,” he said, trying to wrap his mind around the fact that there was only one person that could possibly be moving in with him. The men set down their boxes and as they were heading back out the door, Fai slipped in with a small smile. “Hey.” Fai sat down on the couch next to him and started petting the puppy.

“Hello, Kuro-sama. We’ll talk once they’re out of here,” he promised, indicating the movers who were coming back into the apartment with a few more boxes.

“Alright. That’s everything,” the lead man said after a third trip. Kurogane watched as Fai handed them a check and showed them to the door.

The one lingered and turned around to ask the blonde, “Hey, haven’t I seen you before in a movie or something?”

“You must have confused with somebody else, now, goodbye.” Fai spun the man around and shoved him out, slamming the door shut behind him. Kurogane put the puppy down on the couch as soon as the door was closed and made his way over to Fai, cupping the man’s face in his large hands and claiming his mouth with a kiss.

“I’m so glad you’re here. I thought maybe you had run away again.”

“The thought crossed my mind.” Kurogane was very grateful the chemist had not decided to go with that option, and Fai’s hands crawled up to clutch at the front of Kurogane’s shirt. “And I think it’s only fair to warn you that I am absolutely petrified. I never imagined getting so close to anyone, and I think I’m in over my head.”

“I know.” He gave Fai a reassuring kiss on the forehead. “But for right now it’s enough that you’re here.”

“No. You have to understand I’m terrified because no one has ever been this committed to me, and I’m afraid I’ll lose you.”

“You’re not going to lose me,” he reassured the man with another kiss to the forehead.

“You don’t know that. You don’t know anything about me but you asked me to move in with you, and your level of commitment to me scares me even more.

“It’s okay.” He started gently stroking the side of the man’s face. “We’ll deal with any problems that come up, and we’ll work it out together.” He grabbed Fai’s chin and tilted the man’s head back so he could kiss him again. Fai loosened his grip on Kurogane’s shirt and snaked his arms loosely around the man’s neck. The puppy started barking at them from the couch, and Fai pulled away to stare at her.

“I don’t think she likes you doing this to me.”

“She still needs a name,” Kurogane gently reminded him.

“Hmm… How about Antimony?” the man said with a small kiss for Kurogane.

“Sounds like a geeky name to me.”

“You’re the one who asked me to move in.” Kurogane lowered his hands down Fai’s back and started kissing him again, sliding his tongue into the moist mouth. Antimony started barking louder, paws placed on the edge of the couch, front end low.

“I think we should move this into our bedroom where Antimony can’t see us,” Kurogane suggested, tugging Fai’s waist in the general direction of the bedroom.

“Agreed. We need to break in the bed we’re going to be sharing from now on,” Fai said grabbing his hand as they started walking into the bedroom.

“You’ve been sleeping here almost five nights a week for a while now,” Kurogane mumbled.

“A technicality,” Fai whispered against his lips as he pulled him down onto the bed.
