Life's a Beach
Life was certainly a beach for me last week...at this time last week I was packin' my bikinis for a weekend of sun, fun, and family time in Destin, FL. We had a blast and have decided that October is the absolute perfect time to visit the Redneck Riviera - the weather was perfect and the beaches weren't crowded, it was great!

Beer + Drills = Bonk!
I'm here to report that drinking beer before going out for running drills is bad news, folks. See, I fell into some good old fashioned peer pressure and decided to sip on a beer at a work party on the roof of our office. Harmless, right?! Happy Pace
I'm in a happy pace. It all started with drills last Thursday evening. Irina had us do 1000's with 1000 run in between repeats. Yep, you read that right...no recovery, more running after the repeat. All out for 1000, then slow to an 8 min/mi pace....4 times. The goal was to do the fast repeats at 4 minutes and the run repeats in 5 minutes, but I ( Read more... ) -

...I'm getting better with age. But, that's supposed to happen, right?! We're supposed to grow and learn and become better people as we mature..well, I'm not sure about the mature part, but I've done some growing and some learning. Springs!
I swear my legs feel like springs! Granted, tightly wound springs, but springs nonetheless. They are bouncing right back into training - I am happy to report that I've gotten right back into my pre-China routine and have minimal soreness. Uber Dork and Chinese Surprises
Before I left for Beijing I was instructed by Irina to try to get 4 run workouts in while I was on vacation. I knew this would be a challenge for several reasons:
1) The website for the Beijing Bamboo Garden gave no indication that a fitness room existed anywhere on the premesis;
