Nothing much has been going on the last little while. Kinda missing the RPing I used to get to do before we moved, but I don't know if anyone around here would be interested in a tabletop or anything. might have to look into doing it online again ( Read more... )

When you say "it's all planning", do you mean that you don't trust yourself to GM? Because there are a number of really good blogs and podcasts to give you ideas on how to run a game. I could recommend some, if you like.

Nah it's more like I read and plan but I never get much further than that.

Or with many of my other works I start and I never get much further than that. I dunno.

I find that consuming media about the topic helps keep my brain focused; Find an RPG podcast you like (Fear the Boot, Pulp Gamer: Out of Character), and listen while playing games on your computer. That'll remind you about the game, and keep the ideas flowing.

You might also look into simpler games. There's a lot of GM work to do in D&D and Exalted, compared to many other games. You could opt to run a D&D-type game, or a game set in Creation, using a more GM-friendly game system. This would let you get a product to the table a little faster, and get you out of planning phase.

Might I recommend the Savage Worlds: Explorer's Edition? It's a system without a world attached to it, built to be simple, adaptable, and quick to run. I found that the game cut down my prep time significantly. It is also $15, which doesn't hurt.

im glad you are posting here again! ^^ im out of a job too...got laid off...again...guy decided to shut down...I wanna get into dungeons and dragons but the only one I know who DMs is maria and she kinda busy...

no... the LA in LARP means Live Action... therefore we do it all in person as the character. D:
