That'd be me reflected in the eye, yep! I shot these pictures (along with pretty much all other pictures in my journal) with a Nikon Coolpix 8800. It's a pretty nice camera for most things, but it's not a DSLR. I just bought a Nikon D60 last month with a basic lens for $600. I will have to get a zoom lens. I haven't had time to shoot much, but I like the D60. It has nice ISO choices and works better in low light conditions. You can pay more for a nicer camera, but that was what was in the price range I liked. I think it's a very fine camera for most things you could want to do. I didn't need to buy a more expensive camera to make wall-sized prints or anything! Not yet! Sorry I may not have such helpful advice. :) Any idea what kind of price range you would be looking at? Don't think that you need to get the most expensive camera out there - these affordable ones can be all that you need.
I have no idea what you can get for $350. You should make sure to get a camera with adjustable aperture and shutter speed. Pretty much any camera on the market these days can provide you with crisp 8x10 and 11x14 prints.
