Reading the end of "1984" was the closest a book has ever made me want to cry. It's really good. if you liked, "Equilibrium," "V for Vendetta," "Aeon Flux," etc. then you will love this book. it pretty much inspired a major part of those movies. It also shares a lot of themes with "Brave New World" and "Fahrenheit 451." I think it predates them too. Bottom line: bithcin' book.
The rest of your report I find inconsequential to my interests and can therefore not comment on them.
I like it already, and yes, I liked all those movies and books :)
First of all, I have the rest of the Vonnegut books I want to buy and read. Of course. Some other books are: Dune, The rest of the Ender's Game series, Neuromancer, Invisible Man, World War Z, Foundation, and so much more!
Here is the wishlist if you want to take a peek at it. In addition to novels, there are technical books, audio cds, some games, and anything that caught my eye and wanted to remember about, really.
That's a good book list and all, but I kinda meant your required reading for the class you were talking about. If it starts with "1984" then I wanna know what else you're gonna be reading.
LOL. As far as I know, 1984 is the only novel we're reading. We'll read some shorter things that she either hands out or is included in the textbook, I think. Maybe she will focus more on writing. In my freshman English class, we didn't read any books, it was all writing.
Then again, maybe we would have read another book if it wasn't a 6 week class.
So I guess in addition to that, I'm reading my Unix textbook (~800 pages), and Xenocide by Orson Scott Card. Of course, the Unix book isn't required, and Xenocide isn't even for school ;)
I find it more legitimate to do it this way for a number of reasons.
You two have been together for some time now (or at least with my bad memory it seems like quite a while). She's around a lot whenever I see you (honestly, I'm surprised she didn't yell out "Geeks!" at all that day. She must have been ill). It's not cheating when she does your homework if you are considered one singular super-being (I think).
And lastly, it amused me to write it like that, and I like being amused :)
