Why wouldn't you be invited to parties because you're single? My experience is I get *more* invitations, because everyone's trying to set me up.

I believe it's a cultural thing... dating in Brazil is something that depends on you, and you alone. Friends don't set you up: you're pretty much shunned, labelled as a third wheel, if you don't bring
