Only in the sense that the prince's uncle kills the king and takes his place, and revenge must be exacted. I don't see many more similarities than that. I don't recall Simba musing over whether to continue and get revenge, or whether to commit suicide, and I definitely don't remember him bitching his mom out for marrying Scar and calling her a whore.
But enjoy the movie-making. Hey, is what I hear true, that you have to produce and make a roughly $10000 to $15000 movie project by the end of your college career? For your sake, I really hope not. I should write you an email one of these days.
Certainly one CAN do that, and some people do (I've worked as a peon/grunt/crew member on a few of those projects by now). But it's only that expensive if you use real film instead of going digital, which is my current plan. Some people make their senior films for less than the $1500 stipend they get from the department.
Yeah, and Hamlet never had to fight an army of hyenas, either. And he didn't score with Ophelia. And there was no Simon and Pumba for comic relief in Hamlet. Come to think of it, there wasn't much comic relief in Hamlet. Maybe it would have been strengthened if, as Hamlet's mother died, a clown ran in and threw a pie in her face. I know I would have enjoyed it.
