Supposedly this is the origin of the word "testify". It turns out that the Romans, rather than swear on a Bible or Holy Book, would swear on their nuts. Testicles. Testes...Testify? Get it? They would put their hands over their nuts when they did this, apparently. The Romans thought of everything.
