Constructive prefered, venomous less so...

I'm in the middle of a design project for a replacement bridge over a road cutting and while I'll be marked on the structural design, the aesthetics are personally important - I'd like it to be more than an exercise in maths. As such, I respectfully solicit your opinions on 'wot it looks like ( Read more... )

it's boring. It should be PINK. It should have kitten's heads on the side. It should also play japanese pop music 24/7 on some attached speakers.

Now that's the kind of bridge I'd cross MANY times.

Y'know, in all the designing, I forgot the 'element of fun' - Mary Poppins would be very disappointed :(

I agree with that the bridge would be neater if were pink. Or maybe aqua--ooh, you could paint it all stripy!

Are there no, umm, what're they called, guard rails (?) on the sides? I'm kinda scared of heights so I might be afraid to cross your bridge. (or are those neat diamond shapes railings and I just can't tell?)

Maybe black and yellow stripes would re-create that 'industrial heritage' look?

And no, there are no guard rails as yet - very much a work in progress!

If it was yellow and black stripes it would look like a hornet and I would refuse to cross it because they are scary.

I think it lacks a certain element of adventure. Perhaps you could replace the entire thing with a swing-rope challenge and ask Richard O'Brien to curate it?

It looks swell.

I need more posts from you. My current degree plan is civil engineering. There are times when I wonder why I'm putting myself through this...and I'm still very early in my degree.

Oy.

Civil engineering can be fantastic - my specialism is structural\architectural engineering and the good bit are great! If you have any questions just post away...

Even flacid I suppose you could 'nail' each end to the rock - and cross it like riding a banana boat...

I think this sort of thing could be a hazard:
