Went to a show Monday night at 4th & B with Robert & Joe. Rollins Band & X co-headlining with a band named The Riverboat Gamblers opening. Opening act was good hi-energy punk.
I am a big Roliins fan so of course Henry Rollins and his band were great in my oh so humble opinion. Henry is a wired animal onstage, seemingly ready to pounce at any second. He was dressed in his traditional black shorts and nothing else. As each song starts and builds he's in this crouch at center stage rocking back and forth just ready to launch into his bruising & truthful lyrics. X closed out the show and played just as tight as ever. They are classic. Punk sensibilities with just enough rockabilly swing.

I had the first of two scaling & root planing appointments this afternoon. This is were they go below the surface of the gumline scrape the roots of the teeth clean. I make plaque easily so I normally go for cleaning 3 times a year just to help keep things in check. Ocassionally I have to have one of these scaling procedures. It's been about 3 or 4 years since the last time. Fortunately they numb you up for it. My hygenist is real good at giving the novacaine shots. You can barely tell when she is injecting it. The procedure isn't so bad once your numb. However, my gums were throbbing a bit as the novacaine wore off. She also packed the pockets between my teeth and gums with an anti-biotic gunk that helps keep the space free of bacteria while healing and allowing the gums to adhere back to the teeth. However, this stuff hardens up and feels like food stuck between your teeth. I can feel it with the side of my tongue and I want to dig it out, but no toothpicks or flossing on that part of the mouth for a week. They only do half your mouth per visit so I go back on Monday for the left side.
*Edit: forgot to mention how the Hygenist pulled out here sharpening stone while waiting for my mouth to get numb and started sharpening her tools while sitting right next to my head. It was like nails on a chalkboard. SCREEEE SCREEEE SCREEEEE

My son got hired at the neighborhood Taco Bell this afternoon. He starts next week. I'm glad he finally got something. There dont seem to be many opportunities outside of fast food joints these days for the under 18 crowd. Many places he applied were looking for 18 & up only. Anyhooo... Minimum wage is now $6.75 so even if he only works a couple shifts a week, it should keep him in gas money. My first job back in 1980, I started at $3.10 per hour washing dishes at a restaurant.
