Working from home this morning. Getting ready to get Beth up and at'em to go to the doctor. She tweaked her back Friday night and has been in bed since. It's almost like she re-herniated the disc and has been in a lot of pain. I was up in Carlsbad Friday night and all day Saturday at the Real Ale Fest. Vacation day.... whats that? Taking my first full vacation day of the year. Gonna handle some errands this morning, then meet up with some folks for lunch at O'Briens and finally make my way to Carlsbad for the Real Ale Festival. Over 50 firkins of cask conditioned ale.... yum!

Finishing out the night with a Speakeasy Old Godfather Barleywine. I poured it in my Old Stock Ale snifter to let it breathe and get a bit closer to cellar temps. Mmmmm... bready malt, slight estery alcohol, a pleasant hop bite at the back of the tongue. I need to brew up some of my own barleywine. I baked up my Lou Malnati's pizza tonight. Being frozen for the journey takes a bit off the freshness scale, but damn... that was one tasty mo-fo of a frozen pizza. I know I'll never get an east coaster to agree, but this dog says that Chicago has the best pizza by far.

We went out for steak and ribs tonight. There's nothing much better than grilled animal tissue. We ate at Pinnacle Peak, a cowboy style restaurant that cuts the ties off visitors who dare wear one inside the premises. I don't go there for the atmosphere, or schtick, just the cookin'.
