I think the main problem with our faith is that we all argue about a single point instead of uniting as one loving, accepting group. Who is to say that he is not a voice of God?

I had a revelation about this just yesterday, so allow me to share. Not every blessing or "work" that we do because of our faith has to be a loud booming voice from God. What matters is the reason behind the work. As you said, we are not saved by works, but by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The works are an expression of our faith. Sometimes they are clearly guided by God, and other times they are not.

We are called to bless our brothers and sisters in Christ, but also to serve the rest of the world. As long as our intentions are pure (not doing it to gain recognition or reward for ourselves) and do it simply to show God's love, or to give praise and glory to God, then there doesn't have to be clear direction to do it.

I can assure you though that at the times where I don't necessarily feel God telling me to do a "work" and I choose not to, I clearly hear from him, through the holy spirit, when it's too late.
