so, um, I got this 14 day trial to urge's unlimited downloading deal; and they have basically everything. So I guess now would be the best time out of ever to ask -
OMG OMG OMG. Ok. Where to begin? WHERE TO BEGIN? I'll sift through iTunes and pull some names out? Yeah, I'll start with A. Or B. Or something...
Bat for Lashes - Fur and Gold I bought this (or uh, downloaded it?) because one of the songs was on Thom Yorke's iTunes playlist. It kind of has the same feel as some of Björk's stuff. Not really, but kind of? Or maybe Emiliana Torrini's Love in the Time of Science (which I also recommend over 'Fisherman's Woman' which is pretty boring.) Anyways, I'd say get the whole thing, but 'Horse & I' or 'Trophy' would be nice previews.
Beriut - Gulag Orkestar Liz ONCE AGAIN got me all crazy about somebody (First it was Sondre!). It's gypsy folky briliance, really. And I think they're out of Arizona or something? Definitely get the title track. Actually, try to find 'Elephant Gun' off of Lon Gisland (I think it's an EP?). It's absolutely gorgeous. I'll upload it if you can't find it.
Brian Eno - Here Come the Warm Jets I finally got this after having listened to 'Needle in the

Pulp - His'N'Hers We like driving on a Saturday night, past the Leisure Centre, left at the lights. We don't look for trouble but if it comes we don't run. Looking out for trouble is what we call fun. Hey you, you in the Jesus sandals, wouldn't you like to come over and watch some vandals smashing up someone's home? = one of the greatest opening 40 seconds to an album ever. Pulp has also raced up the list to become a member of my top ten favorite bands. Get this and 'Different Class' and discover the best of the britpop bands :D
The Radio Dept. A newish discovery, on my part. It's dreamy and shoegazy and very yummy. Download whatever you can get your hands on.
Richard Hell & The Voidoids - Blank Generation I just got the full album (I only had a few tracks for a very long time, but I had been listening to them NONSTOP), but I'm still recommending it. Find the title track. It's everything you want from '77 Punk.
Sean Lennon - Friendly Fire One of my favorite albums that came out last year. It was ALL I listened to last

I KNEW YOUD BE UP FOR THE CHALLENGE! I'm going to dowload them now, but quick notes - The Clash - I had obe of my mom's cds by them, but it wasn't that one...I think Im thinking of the same band, anyway, i never liked it much - but I never relly gave it a good listen (plus my mom has a habit of going to an artist's section and picking up the one cd that totally bombed by them) But! I'll get it anyhow.
elvis costello - FUNNY cause we played his new greatest hits cd at work today and I thought to myself 'hm, ill think ill snag this offline'
kate bush - got hounds of love last night :)
my bloody valentine - um... I did that too? This is how it went = Customer: Where's My Bloody Valentine? Boss 1: In rock/pop B's Boss 2: Ah. MBV, remember them? Me: Pssh. Remember, what are they from like, last summer Boss 1&2: Uh. . . no they're from, like (insert exact date here). moron.
sean lennon - snagged itlast night :) I've been wanting it ever since I previewed it at work when it first came out
London Calling is by FAR the best of their albums. It's like... miles and miles away from the other stuff. There are some good singles on the others (ROCK THE CASBAH!), but London Calling is definitely superior.
YAY! I doubt anybody could listen to his greatest hits and not think it's awesome. Good stuff.
Mmm, it's like the Homogenic of the 80s. (And that means 80s production, but hey! It comes with the territory, I suppose)
AHAHAHAHAHAHA! See, I knew I couldn't be the only one. It's such an emo sounding name.
