I've promised myself that I won't read it until after I get Challenge 43 all finished--it's due this weekend!! So now I have a great incentive! Because, really, I *want* to read it *soooo* badly!
How beautiful, as always, Elanor! From the vivid descriptions of Sarn Ford, to the game Pippin's grandchildren played to see what kind of story they would be told, to the Magnificent's breakdown at the feast....all so beautiful. I am reminded once again of why I enjoy this story so much. I love the emotion that comes forth in virtually every chapter, and this one especially.
As that business played out at the feast, I think Merry and I realized at the same time that (at least in my little world) he had never really let Frodo go. And by bequeathing the beloved ritual to all of Buckland, he suddenly found that he had to. A shocking, perhaps frightening moment, and one that wrung his heart.
Rather like writing a story and, in the act of sharing it, finding you must let it go, to do and to be as fate falls out.
Always a delight to read new stuff from you. :) Sorry it took me so long to respond.
Just to point out one minor thing: the link to your LJ at the bottom of the chapter page doesn't work. It still shows the old LJ format rather than the current addy (elandulin.livejournal.com). Wouldn't want any readers to miss out on a chance to say how much they love your story! ;)
Oh, no worry about that. Nobody seems too anxious to say anything!
As for the link, I got the current page, so I'm not sure what that's about. If it's been awhile since you've been there, maybe your computer is still holding the old page? Mine does that sometimes....
Thanks for the response; they're few and far between these days!
