D'oh...it'd help if I remembered to respond, wouldn't it?

Anyway, great stuff as always. This chapter seemed to center around putting things in perspective...for the reader, the introduction of Beregond's (adult!) grandson really drives home how much time has passed since the War of the Ring.

And Jamy's experience with the map puts in perspective the size of the world and of the journey. That scene was wonderfully written, and a real eye-opener...yeah, what WOULD all those symbols and squiggly lines mean to someone who'd never really seen a map before?

Margaret, thank you for this lovely, thoughtful review. It makes me feel awfully good to know the things you mention came across the way they did; as writers we always hope that what we're doing makes sense, but we can't always be sure. You have kindly set some of my worries to rest!
