My busy week ended with a neat experience

So I was heading home Friday when, on my way out of my timber sale, I spotted some guys I knew from the Game Commission. Seems they were out trapping bears and there was one in a trap on the same road I was on. It really was! These were the same guys that take us out to hold bear cubs in March, so I really hoped we see something neat.

Well, they don't tend to want to get close to you out in the woods, so that's usually how I see them - from a distance. This spring, we were putting a plot in a fence when, just as we got to the spot and started pounding the stake in for the center, when a bear jumped up from a spot about 25 feet away from us. She ran away, but stopped about 50 feet out. That was when we noticed the two little heads peaking up from the stump she'd been behind. Ooops!

We decided we'd come back later to do that plot. ;)
