My fellow Americans, but specifically my inlaws, random strangers, and people at my place of work, the following things are simply NOT true. I felt you needed to know ( Read more... )

Outsource the baby factory to India or China. The Baby Union has too many demands.

Hear, hear! One would think that a firm, "We don't want any more children." would work. Even if you are speculating...it's none of their business. You don't have to give one, two, or twenty reasons. If they want a baby boy...they can adopt one ( ... )

GAH! I am also in agreement with your statements and Fuzzy's...I mean, seriously, putting someone on a guilt trip is NOT a reason to pop out another child. This is not the 1800's and you are not obligated to produce more offspring than you would like. YOUR BODY, YOUR RULES! I do not have any of my own yet and am planning on ONLY ONE for many of the reasons you've mentioned above.

You have a lot of forsight and it is obvious that you and your husband have through this through very carefully. I give you uber kudos, even if the inlaws do not see it that way.

Any ideas about what can be said to my stepmother the next time she declares that she "CAN'T WAIT until Mike [my stepbrother] and Dan make us grandparents" is greatly appreciated. "Well, that's my decision, not yours" only held her off for so long.

"OK...*waves hand around* which one of these fine people would you like me to impregnate?"

Or..."But it's so difficult being a single mother!"

"OK...*waves hand around* which one of these fine people would you like me to impregnate?"

One of these days I'm gonna use a variation of that as a pick-up line. "See, my stepmother wants me to have kids. You feel up for it?"

When Silverwater and I got married, I flat out told my mom that in no uncertain terms was she to even attempt to pester Silverwater or I about having babies like she did to my older brother and SIL before they had a kid.

There may have even been swearing (in fact, I think there was - it may have been along the 'we will have kids when we are damned well ready' or somesuch)... I was adamant about it, as it really stressed my SIL out when it happened to her.

SO...instead she has taken up the question of when we are going to graduate... for silverwater, its easy... next year. For me, I had to explain to her that that question is no less annoying than the kid one, and has the same answer, except replace 'we are' with 'my advisor is'

Huh... One set or another of grandparents must have given you a call recently then. :-)

I'll stand by the statement that any child I've met recently has been "an inferior form of Brynn". This in no way stops me from liking other munchkins or wanting my own, but she's something else. A full-time- occupation something else.

Besides, a second-born generally gets less attention:

and has a slightly lower IQ than the first:
