I'm looking to put together a list of books to read over the next year. The problem is I don't have any recommendations! The Year of Meat by Ruth Ozeki
These two books are *very* different -- Wind in the Willows is like The Hobbit: meant for children but not simplistic, and adults can get a lot from it, and The Year of Meat is a funny, irreverent (but a bit political) look at American and Japanese culture, and the effects of eating meat. (It didn't put me off meat, but it gives you something to think about.
