I agree with the last part a lot. Its ok with me if people are mean in a way that says "I'm being mean" but I hate it when people are mean in a way that says "I'm pretending to be nice, but actually i'm being mean." Arg it pisses me off.
I think subtle actions are worse than overt actions but for a different reason.
With subtle actions you're always trying to figure out what the deal is cause you're not sure. It's like "This could be something terrible but maybe not."
Whereas overt actions are like "In your face Charlie Murphy."
But don't you think you can sometimes misinterpret? Sometimes people are shy and awkward in certain situations and totally effervescent and friendly in others. How can you be sure you know the difference between someone who is fake and someone who has weird social anxiety problems?
i guess it depends how well you know the person, which you can assume of the two. Either they are being awkward, and kind of rude. Or they have social issues that you know about an accept. either way its still weird and uncomfortable.
