What is this twitter??? I've heard about it, but don't know much about it.

Think of it as a mini-LJ where each post is limited to 140 characters. You have a friends list of people whose tweets you see. Mostly people tend to use it for updates on what they're doing throughout the day. Media outlets have twitter feeds, though, so it can be a quick way to receive news.
