So it looks like after two years of looking for a job with varying levels of optimism/effort/self-loathing, I'm at last about to enter the magical world of crappy fast food employment.

I feel like this calls for some sort of coinciding congratulations and condolences. Congratulamentations?

I'd rather stop bathing and go on a spiritual wanderlust across Nepal at that point, but to each their own. Congratulamentations!

The saving graces are that it's a small local business rather than a chain and that I can keep my current slackerly sleep schedule. ...And, y'know, money. I think at this point, any semblance of agency is probably something I need.

Well at least it's a local place, there's not too much indignity in that. My ex worked for a local restaurant for a while, and it was a good time for the most part. It just sucks that it has nothing to do with, you know, your education. But that's liberal arts for you... :/

Yyyeah, seriously, I think the woman I talked to (it was a very informal kind of interview) had me completely pegged from the moment I told her what I'd studied. She also pretty clearly had no illusions that I'm not gonna run the instant I find another job, so that's nice of her!

Congratulamentations! Making money is nice, at least, right?

Honestly, even minimum wage is be more overall moneys than I've ever had in my life. ...Also better motivation to find a better job than sitting around at home is, if only because come summer that joint is going to be a cramped, greasy hellhole.
