Not really, a friend of mine's aunt and uncle got a hotel room as a rest station for mardi gras and I stayed there and went to the parades. It's much nicer to go to parades up town. People are relaxed and there are no hedonists. I just stood along the parade routes catching beads and cheap shit and had a beer or two. Then, being the poor college ( Read more... )

hell, over here i can hang out on the street and drink a beer anyday. i can go on public trains and drink a beer too. i can go into any building that lacks a 'no drinking' sign and drink alcohol. i can buy anything i want, and i could have been doing so for the last five years.

of course, ive found it eats both into health and wallet. go figure.

technically, you can always drink in the open in new orleans as well, in the quarter & a few other spots, because it may or may not be illegal, but no one gives a shit.

it's just rampant during the gras.

Most people would argue that a nice rum mixes with Coke far better than Tequila does. In fact, rum and coke is very high on my list of favorite drinks. Another is Vodka and Red Bull, or Vodka and almost anything.

But then, Jose Cuervo and I are not the greatest of friends. Captain Morgan, on the other hand, is welcome at my place any time.

Such are the joys of being 21.

I had a bad experience with rum... I'll be 21 soon though. In about a year.
