Faith collapsed, and the lights went on.
It was a sudden, jarring realization as the world suddenly went from the darkness of the building being restored, air thick with dust and the smell of blood, to the bright open air lobby of the El Dorado mansion. Not that Wesley knew where he was. In fact, he hadn’t the faintest idea-but he knew that a sudden transportation elsewhere was beyond Angelus’ capabilities. Especially considering that he was lying unconscious next to the Slayer who had dosed him with Orpheus. Wesley suspected the Beastmaster, if nothing else, but none of that was important at the moment. He needed to get back to the Los Angeles. Back to Faith, before she bleed out all over the floor.
They needed to get Angelus contained while they had the chance.
His eyes took a moment to adjust to the change in light, before pushing himself to his feet to head for the door. His body was still sore from both the beating he had taken from Angelus and his fall from the scaffolding, so he’s not moving as quickly as he may like, but it’s still at a decent pace. Decent enough that when he got to the door and actually saw where he was, he was even more confused. This place … was unlike any place he had ever seen, and was certainly not anywhere in the vicinity of Los Angeles, California. Taking a deep breath, he turned and made his way back to the desk where the receptionist was waiting.
“Excuse me, could you please tell me where I am?”
“Welcome to El Dorado, Mr. Wyndam-Pryce. We’ve been expecting you.”
Because that was always what someone wanted to hear when he found himself magically transported somewhere else.
“Have you? And who are ‘we’ exactly?”
He had a feeling he wasn’t going to get the answer he wanted to hear.
