Sam had been having a wretched week. Not only did he have Dean's revelations to think about (and weigh him down), he also saw his mom (younger mom) die in a very similar way that his girlfriend and older mom died and he couldn't do a thing to stop it, again. Then he found out Dean died and had to break the news to Ben ( Read more... )

Claire made it a point not to wake up before seven whenever she could help it, so when she heard a knock at the door and looked over at the time on her clock, she almost didn't bother getting out of bed. In fact, she actually grumbled a little as she rolled over and sat up, listening for footsteps to see if Sylar was around to answer the door.

No such luck.

"Coming," she said almost too quietly, and definitely not loud enough for the visitor to hear her. If Nathan was at the door and ready to complain about Sylar again, she was going to kill him. ...In a non-literal way that just annoyed him to get her point across ( ... )

Sam knew that he would do something as soon as he saw Claire, be it cry or some other form of venting, since she seemed to be the one he could (somewhat) open up to. What he did not expect was to feel calm and happy the second he saw her.

It wasn't the first time for Sam to feel giddy and strange around Claire, but it was the first time she had taken his breath away and made his heart race all at the same time. All the grief and frustration and other negative emotions he was feeling were just gone in that moment.

"Claire, hi... I uhh..." He took in a deep breath and shifted on the spot as he looked her up and down. "Wow... I mean..." Another deep breath. "Yeah, wow..."

The look he was giving her had Claire running a hand through her hair and straightening out the hem of her shirt, trying to look more presentable. She didn't know what exactly he was responding to, but she knew that she was a mess and baggy sweats weren't flattering on anyone - which was why she only wore them to bed to begin with. "Come in," she replied after a moment, mentally kicking herself for not doing it sooner.

She stepped aside to let him enter the living room, then closed the door and looked around to make sure that the room looked better than she did. "I should get dressed. Is everything alright? Because it'll just take a few minutes if that's okay, and then I could start breakfast..."

Had he planned on staying for breakfast? ...Did she really want to give him the option to leave so soon? "And we could bring it in here and hang out on the couch for a while."

He smiled and stepped inside, looking down as he quickly wiped his now sweaty palms against his jeans. "Yeah, sure. That sounds really good actually." Better than good. It sounded like the best offer anyone had ever given to him and he was jumping up and down on the inside.

He looked around and smiled sheepishly. "I can sit down while I wait. Or... whatever. I hope I'm not in your way."
