i think maybe you are misinterpreting the intent of the event here. it was a Rally more than a Speech. in the sense that he came for the express purpose of rallying support for a run at the democratic nomination rather than delineating policy ideas. policy ideas are what divide people. the best thing he could do at this point in the running is give a speech to inspire faith in his ability to lead, which i think he did a fairly effective job of. i say this because i came bearing nothing but an understanding of a few basic ideas -- 1, i take issue with hillary's support of the war, 2 it was my understanding that he had been against the war even back then, and 3 that yes people seemed to respond to him for some reason and i wanted to find out why. and i think he was fairly inspirational in drawing on examples of other turning points in our country's brief history that while perhaps not comparable in scope were at least comparable in general attitude. and i thought it illustrated well that he had confidence in his ability to lead
