Great conversations at both the pre- and post-revel, and during the day at Clothiers, especially the class Vincent de Vere taught on the connection between garb & recruitment helped crystalize a few things in my head. Since it's my blog, I'll share them with you.

On the same lines, my daughters are also scouts. The last local event we had, Cooks Symposium, (which was at our local Girl Scout Camp another way to get both aligned) Gaia's girl scout troop toured our SCA event and received a specialized girl scout badge by doing so. They enjoyed watching the fighting & archery (many wanted to try the archery but couldn't because their parents were not there to stand on the line with them), they learned how we camped, a little bit of heraldry, and what we wear (the girls dressed the part as well). They even cooked their own SCA style lunch (made their own butter & noodles).

The first time Gaia went camping with her troop, I had to explain that she did not need to pack garb. Girl Scouts wear regular clothes. She thought this was an odd tradition. There is something about 2nd Generation SCA'ers...

Up
