So, I get to the ER, and my 13yo says, "The stupid hurts worse than my finger."  I'm so pleased she realizes how stupid it is to push a stick of butter down into a BROKEN blender with her fingers.  She got 5 stitches in her middle finger, and a nick on her index finger.  It was really, really stupid.  But it will be ok ( Read more... )

So, after this Lilies, we decided that Gerald's 20+ year old pavilion top with grape dags has seen it's last days.  Tiny holes have been developing, and the seams are ripping apart.  Some of it's demise might have been from the large canvas sides I used with it these last 3 years, changing the 15x15 foot top into a closed pavilion with a 25x25 foot ( Read more... )

So, is it a good sign or a bad sign that when you walk into the hospital lobby and tell the desk clerk your kid poked a stick in her eye, that they just say "You know where the red bench outside Emergency is, right? I used 3 folding shiny windshield sunshades, and black pot w/lid, a rack, and an oven bag, (& some tape) to cook rice yesterday.  It was pretty sticky, but I think that's the brand I have.  It wasn't undercooked, or dry, and it cooked while I was gone shopping ( Read more... )
