I read about this in a forum posting a couple of days ago. This is actually the first news item I've seen on it though.
It can definitely be real. I'd question the legality of it though. As the article mentions, a professor's lecture is copyrighted.
As for attempting to get a professor's lessons regulated, that is something the state does and not some crappy little alumni association spearheaded by a 2-year graduate who also happened to head their Rebpulican club. ;)
yeah, i mean, i know they're doing it illegitimately, but FUCK! it doesn't *completely* discourage me from keeping ucla on my grad school wish list, but definitely won't be soon forgotten...
This is blatently wrongtekbuddhaFebruary 16 2006, 01:13:35 UTC
Anything is possible and this is not far fetched at all. The group has already raised thousands of dollars for this unjust cause.hmm...dirty. Well, I hope that this gets shut down fast. If it doesn't then I would rethink grad school at ucla. I know it's a good school and all but.... will you have to take under ground classes. Any school that would that openly control what you learn would raise a red flag in my mind. Are they going to shut down teachers that are pro Bush?? Black Power! JK:)
It's real but keep in mind that this "Bruin Allumini Association" is not the UCLA legitimate Allumini Association (California Allumini Association, which is in every UC Campus and tends to be quite left wing, I'm a member and have a scholarship from them). This is probably a bunch of college republicans who graduated and miss the opportunity to terrorize their proffessors.
