Double Standards

Let me see... WRONG, creepy as fuck, disgusting behavior, selfish, and my personal favorite: shallow piece of shit. I've been called all of that within... let me check... six days. By people who don't even follow me and don't know squat about me. And all because I made the mistake of pointing out that my opinion on RPS differs from that of the OP, ( Read more... )

random rant, wtf

Can I just say I absolutely love your icon? That is freaking fantastic.

And here I though Tumblr was just about re-posting tons of pretty pictures. Huh, I guess I was mistaken. I do have an account there and when I remember to log in one of the next days (big maybe here) I'll totally follow you. I can totally get along with being creepy as fuck. And I hope you really don't take that shit seriously. You don't, right? We're totally above letting stupid morons like that get to us!!

One question - because I totally got lost in that thing and didn't even get how it started. They are "just" against RPS, right? Or fanfic in general? Because, regular fanfic people are so much healthier in the head. Or maybe not, based on some of the stuff that's been happening in a fandom I enjoy reading fanfic to.

People are weird. On top of being stupid. :)
*hugs*...just because :)

First: HIIIIII! *smishes* Good to see you!
Heh, I could finally put the icon to good use!
Wow, Tumblr has some of the most ridiculous fandom wars I've seen in a while. I follow some Teen Wolf meta people and they get stuff thrown at them... let's just say thank fuck for the XKit extension that allows you to block and blacklist. Tumblr has great people and awesome artists and such, and if you manage to avoid the crazies, it's a great happy place. Let me know if you get there!
And no, I didn't take it serious. Those are sad pathetic people.
Yup, just RPS. In general, no exceptions. It didn't even come up which fandom, though I suspect it's One Direction - they got mentioned fleetingly. Shipping fictional characters is totally okay because their feelings can't be hurt... yeah. Just show your naked Wincest art to the actors and argue that they are fictional... good luck. *lol*
*hugs back*

I saw that and I was all "oh how cute, the babies have re-discovered RPS flamewars." Like we didn't have this argument five times already in the last twenty years.

The only way to beat people like that is to never ever respond to them, because a) you're never going to change someone's mind and b) they will get bored and go find someone else to attack if you ignore them. Besides, the way I see it? The RPS I write is ultimately about people who love one another. How *that* can possibly hurt anyone, I have no idea.

I know, right? My guess is that the kids stumbled over an RPS fan who crossed a line and now they have to protect their idols at all costs... idk. I remember times where the ultimate punishment for doing RPS was, wait for it, getting defriended on LJ. *gasp* There was a certain incident that I remember very fondly. *g*

Yeah, I should have ignored them in the first place. But I had just witnessed some ugly shipping wars with fictional characters, and was just pissed. And the original post sounded like there maaaaybe could have been a civil discussion... ahem. Yeah. *lol*
But you're writing PORN! About them! Behind their back! That HURTS THEM! *g* Seriously, I have no idea either...
Also? Your icon is awesome!

Oh, there is *never* a civil discussion with people who think they're making the world a better place by policing others' behavior.

The only way my porn can hurt them is if they decide to try it out for real and I got my logistics wrong.

The true joys of the internet. I almost forgot this happens, because I mostly just talk to people about life not fandom anymore. :s

Yeah. Fandom can be so ugly sometimes! Luckily 99% of the time it's awesome. Just taht these incidents stick out...

Yeah, they do. And I remember a time where something like that happened almost every week, so either that got less or I'm just so far removed from it that I don't notice anymore :D

LJ is too quit atm for wank, and on Tumblr I have some pretty good filters (God bless XKit) to avoid most of the wank. And I've become stricter with unfollowing people. :-)

Wow. It would take too much energy to point out that the RPF I write and consume is based not on an actual person, but a media persona. I don't actually know what the people are like in real life, outside of their celebrity or concerts, and I don't care to know.

It is pretty funny these people are so loudly crying out against it.

Exactly! Excactly that was the point in this blog entry I linked that person to. But they dismissed it as "childish whining of a fangirl". *shrugs* They are on a crusade and will take no arguments. Well then:-)
But yeah, pretty funny. :-)

I saw your tweet about this and I wondered what was going on. Some people, seriously.

Glad you're taking this with the humor and incredulity it deserves. You rock, bb!

Thanks hun! *bows* I had typed up a longer reply to the second person, and then I decided that it wasn't worth the effort, and it was the perfect opportunity to use the Judy reaction gif. *g*

It's never a bad time for Judy, really.

I just, for real, do people not have better stuff to worry about? I fail to see how us doing fic or vid or whatever affects the subjects at all (unless you're showing it to them, which is another thing entirely).

And I totally LOL'd at your response about how they could write about you if they want. Because that's it right there--why would you CARE? If someone wants to porn about me, have at it.

That was totally the point of the blog entry I linked them to - don't shove it down the people's throat (unless they are asking for it, of course), but that goes for fictional characters too! Showing porny art of the characters to the actors is the best way of getting banned from a con, I guess...

I completely expect one of them to actually write that. And I'm prepared to give them a glowing review and the advice to sell it, because hey, if the-book-that-shall-not-be-named can do it... *evil grin*
