I have to get two cavities filled AND deal with a dead, frozen deer? Plus I only slept for about an hour last night (this morning)...I would have slept more, like right now, if I weren't afraid of sleeping through my dentist appointment ( Read more... )

I didn't know it was as fresh as it was - I should have cleaned it and ate it, but I waited too long to realize that, and couldn't figure out how fresh it had to be to do that.

Next time, next time I am prepared to gut it and butcher it. It's ridiculous that it could have fed us for the winter/spring, and instead it's just sitting in a landfill. Dammit.

I called the department of natural resources to ask if it was safe to clean and eat, if it had been out for a week or so - but in freezing temperatures, so it shouldn't have rotted. They are no help whatsoever. Their official advice: "It's up to you." What the hell. That's no help.

I need another dead deer in the yard so I can get it right this time.
