Given that the old group was pretty much dead, with no one even bothering to book the venue the two months before we did, I can't see it getting more dead.
On the contrary, I think that of the option of attempting to repair an existing group or trying to start a new group, the latter is both more destructive and more likely to fail.
1) The GA has been in its spiral of decay for over a year. No one in charge in that time tried to repair it. Lots of talk about finding a new venue, making things good again etc. Nothing happened.
2) Nick and I couldn't do it, since we had no positions of power. We'd both made suggestions on the forums, nothing came of them.
3) If a new club spawns as the old dies, its quite possible for a smooth transition from one to the other.
4) if it fails it fails. However as it stands we have a venue far better than McGinns (one thats not likely to take our money and then give us poor sandwiches and uncooked sausage rolls at Christmas) that allows us to socialise and actually show anime (an expected thing at an anime club).
1) That's not due to the "management" alone - the "management" generally reflect the behaviour of the members. The GA constituency has been in decline, and so the management has been less inclined to try and fix it, due to general apathy allover
( ... )
Just so people know, discussed things with people via phone, i apoligise for confusion and stuff caused on diffrent sides, tis not as bad as it all looks :P should have everything sorted by tuesday evening.
