#01 - Ring: They leave each other’s hearts ringing, loud-and-clear.
#02 - Hero: We are not heroes anymore.
#03 - Memory: Both of their memories, sad as they are, seem to be a home for them; at least they have that much in common.
#04 - Box: Hearts are like a box full of fragments, pieces of a puzzle, until the right person comes along; that’s you Firebender, no matter how much I want you not to be.
#05 - Run: Running through veins, my blood feels thick and heavy, like mercury.
#06 - Hurricane: Zuko is out of the rain, needles hurled at the mountainside, harder and harder, the boy runs his hand brow, sweat and rain are indistinguishable, he just doesn’t want to be around when the Firebender awakens, all the time in the world now isn’t enough to get away from the feeling.
#07 - Wings: They fly on, Appa flies like he had actual wings, while both boys’ hearts soar higher than their bodies will ever soar and legs left feeling fragile beneath them.
#08 - Cold: You’re too cold, it’s true, I just don’t know how to make you feel the way I do.
#09 - Red: His hands are red, like the tea he is drinking, they’ve been in the cold too long, he’s anxious, finally, the Avatar; Zuko doesn’t find the Avatar, he sees a boy, not much younger than himself, courage in his eyes.
#10 - Drink: He rocks back and forth, shoulders touching Sokka’s, though he’s slightly taller, grasping a tea cup, delicately; just like Uncle used to make it, he thinks.
#11 - Midnight: The moon is black, leaving little light, but I creep, still, to your tent, searching for a shelter from the lonely, but I find nothing more, nothing to satisfy the growing hunger.
#12 - Temptation: There’s no time left, seconds running away, they just want to live it up before they die in the war-it’s just there, zero attraction.
#13 - View: Zuko look over the horizon, nostalgic eyes drag on the perpetuity of the dusk sky, orange and rosy and bright, the view isn’t enough for him; Sokka thinks the same, far from the Firebender who he says means nothing, traitor.
#14 - Music: Their mother’s voices are music, soft and soothing, it’s the only treasure left.
#15 - Silk: Zuko holds the silk clothe in his hands- they seem too fragile to hold fire-running his thumbs over it, but he doesn’t know the other boy standing there, chest burning and ready to burst.
#16 - Cover: Sokka just needs something to cover his ass when the rest figure it out because Zuko will be long gone.
#17 - Promise: Don’t promise me anything, because I know better than to trust you.
#18 - Dream: You slip away into my dreams, stealthily as you truly are, but those are dangerous waters, monotone slivers weaving in and out of each other, currents in an icy ocean you will never tread.
#19 - Candle: He can feel the naked light on his skin, empty bed, small wrinkles in sheets, invisible stains, just leave some light on so the boy can find a way home.
#20 - Talent: Azula was supposed to be the one with the talent, natural-born prodigy, but there’s so much more to Zuko than that, he thinks, so much more.
#21 - Silence: Katara sits by her brother, his arm is mangled, his pride is worse off, he never wanted Sokka, just the Avatar; silence hangs in the air like knives.
#22 - Journey: Aang never knew how hard this journey would be -he was always so innocent- but Sokka has known ever since his first encounter with the Firebender, remembers the tightness gnawing at his stomach.
#23 - Fire: A slight warmth and the smallest hint on uncertainty played across lips, scarlet like fire.
#24 - Strength: He admires Zuko, for having the strength to leave him.
#25 - Mask: He sees the mask through the shroud of blackness, the Blue Spirit, and looks only once; he knows who it is deep in his gut, and he tastes the sweetness of blood.
#26 - Ice: Ice, ice, he is just like ice.
#27 - Fall: Sokka knows the Firebender has fallen far from his crown, he just wants to see how much further down he can fall him before he hits the bottom.
#28 - Forgotten: I look at you, scar making an unforgettable impression; the thing is, I have forgotten all of you, your face, your touch, and scar.
#29 - Dance: Their fights are far from dances in their eloquence; barred teeth, clenched fists, split lips.
#30 - Body: Your body bleeds into me; I can feel the heat more than usual when you grab my hands and it burns, but now it’s different, warm on even warmer skin, pressured, can’t stand it.
#31 - Sacred: Your kisses, sacred and scarce, help this disease kill me faster.
#32 - Farewells: These are my farewells and it doesn’t sadden me, because you have your path and I have mine, it doesn’t matter anyways.
#33 - World: His lips against mine makes me feel like the seas have opened up and swallowed me, and the feather touch of hands makes the world crumble all around.
#34 - Formal: He laughed, amber eyes closed, there’s something new to him, he really does seem like a prince now.
#35 - Fever: The fever is spreading fast, electrifying every nerve and everything feels too slow, it’s hot, too hot.
#36 - Laugh: When you laugh, you shine, I can’t help but feel that disdain coursing through every nerve in my body, electrify, that you can have the relief of knowing and no weight of shame, Sokka.
#37 - Lies: I know you’ve been told your lies, so have I, but then why does it feel like my insides fall apart when I figure you out.
#38 - Forever: We are not forever- it wasn’t supposed to even happen.
#39 - Overwhelmed: Their heads are spinning, hearts pounding with the intoxicating buzz of war, legs and arms fragile and feeble, it’s finally hitting them, the idea of war and how wrong what they’re doing is.
#40 - Whisper: They whisper, words as sharp the tip of this blade, because they aren’t sure about this, when it’ll end abruptly, train wrecks and limp bodies.
#41 - Wait: Trails of dust, kicked up grass, gusts of wind, runaway shadows, he can’t wait any longer.
#42 - Talk: They talk, shortly and simply, he just wants to know where his dad is.
#43 - Search: “Now that you have stopped searching for the Avatar, what do you search for, what is your drive, Zuko?”
#44 - Hope: Zuko thinks that the Southerner is filled to the brim with hope, something he never had- he just never knew.
#45 - Eclipse: It always feels like my heart blocks out every notion or suspension in my head, eclipse of all reason for the bad or good, I don’t know anymore.
#46 - Gravity: We were flying again, like always, except for now we had another person, I’d rather not say who, but the further up we got, deep into the clouds where they were like water, the strings of my heart tugged me in closer.
#47 - Highway: “Our lives and choices are highways, Zuko, passing us fast by with no u-turns.”
#48 - Unknown: He lies on the straw, it’s uncomfortable, but it’ll do, warm skin on even warmer skin, he squeezes hard enough to see stars blast before his eyes, Sokka’s just trying to chase away the unknown.
#49 - Lock: Lock your doors, the Fire Nation is here; Sokka locks his heart.
#50 - Breathe: He breathes-in, out, in, out-shallow and labored, fight for each breath he takes, Sokka is ready for him now unlike before, fight the Firebender, red scar and amber eyes.
