KoyaMassu "After the rain"
The rainwater is gathered in pockets everywhere, glistening in the over-bright sunlight characteristic right after a storm. Some of it trickles over edges still, bright drops of light falling quickly to shatter against the concrete, so quickly at the edges of sight.
"It's over," Koyama calls over his shoulder, catching sight of Massu's bare shoulder in the mound of sheets, tousled red hair bright against the white of them. He smiles and pads over to drag fingers over soft skin, tickling with just the tips. "Wake up and see."
Massu grunts in answer, seizes Koyama's hand and pulls him down.
ShigeMassu "Summer Days Wasting Away"
The heat makes him drowsy, and the swaying of the hammock. Sweat gathers in the hollow of his neck. Letting go of his book with one hand, he swipes at it, even though he knows it'll be right back. Without another thought he brings the book to cover his face.
How much time passes he doesn't know, but he's rudely awoken by the cool splish of water droplets against his skin. He barely gets his eyes open before the water stops, replaced by the sound of drops splashing against plastic. When he focuses, Massu's smiling down at him, umbrella open.
TegoMassu "you won't melt"
They sit close, knees drawn to their chests and arms wrapped loosely around them, elbows touching between them, and watch the rain. Warm, fat drops splatter against the ground, tiny plops sounding like an echo around them, there are so many. Massu watches with detached interest as the wind shifts and brings some of them bursting against the tips of his sneakers.
"You're getting wet," Tegoshi mentions, offhand, and Massu shrugs, their elbows jostling together.
Then Tegoshi is leaping from the porch to stand in the rain expectantly. Massu's shoes are getting darker by the second and he smiles. Stands.
TegoShige "it was a dark and stormy night"
The worst nights of Shige's life have always started like this - heavy, sleeting rain battering at the windows of his office, the darkness of the night almost overpowering the single lamp. He's been waiting with a sort of resigned dread for the last two hours. Almost midnight and he's ready to call it a night, heave a giant sigh of relief as he locks the door behind him and heads home.
Nearly there, his key's already in the lock when he hears heavy panting and turns to his damsel-in-distress. Even distraught, she's beautiful; but not a she, he realizes belatedly.
KoyaTego "closer"
The rain comes down hard and cold, like slivers of ice driving into their skin. They huddle close for what little warmth their thin frames can provide, their very breath seeming to freeze in clouds around them. The top of Tegoshi's head nestles in the hollow between Koyama's shoulder and neck. They shudder together and wait for it to end. Koyama loves Tegoshi, but he wishes it were Massu - he'd be twice as warm right now. In one unkind moment he wishes Massu were him, instead, himself entirely removed from the equation. If wishes were fishes he whispers. Tegoshi laughs.
KoyaShige "101 fun things to do on a rainy day"
"I can't believe we're doing this," Shige mutters, but Koyama nudges him and smiles.
"Isn't it fun?" he asks, happy. Shige raises an eyebrow at him and Koyama sighs, smile dropping from his face. "You wanted to go camping. It's pouring. We're camping."
Shige stares around them at the curves of the small dome tent Koyama'd set up in his living room, down at the snacks Koyama's scattered around them, out the open flap where he can see the TV, a movie's menu screen on repeat, waiting. Then he snorts. "Okay, you're right. It's probably better, anyway." He presses play.
