To the best of my knowledge, there is no ftp access for uploading pictures to livejournal. This page details how one can upload pictures to livejournal (if one has a paid or plus account, which you seem to have) and this one lists clients for uploading photos, one of which is a command-line client written in perl which probably functions much like a standard ftp client.
