Stephen Hawking British and Alive

As this blurb from The Register points out. Apparently an editorial on Obama's health care plan got these facts a little mixed up.

(While I am amused at the idiocy of the editorial and not opposed to national health care, I haven't paid enough attention to the details of the plan to know whether or not I support it)

Yeah, I read about that a couple days ago. It seems the editorial you linked to has now been edited to remove the Stephen Hawking part, though I'm disinclined to believe the other claims the author makes about the British system after seeing that he doesn't know the first thing about it. (I don't know much about it either, but I do know it hasn't killed any of its still living patients nor turned them into Americans.) A national debate about legislation, especially big things like healthcare reform, is a good thing, but the amount to which the opponents of this bill and of Obama and his and the Democrat's policies in general have resorted to a steady stream of lies as the basis of their arguments is really depressing ( ... )
