Open door, get buried in snow.

It's too late at night to sift through another year of missed journals. I've already blown an hour writing this! Maybe I can stay on the wagon for a while.

Recently, I threw together a road trip to Asheville for the 4th, it being the first time it's been on a weekday since I started working for U-*hurk* Um, I'll try to avoid those initials. Anyway, Junior Brown played the pre-fireworks show on friday as a mother and her kindergarten son sitting next to me on the park sidewalk chanted "USA! USA!" every now and then. I'd signed up for a 3-hour glassblowing class the next morning. With 4 people, there was barely enough time for a couple of simple pieces each. I'm satisfied with the results, as nerve wracking as it was to see my lump of semi-molten glass flop around when trying to keep it centered. They even mailed me the pinch practice figurine, so now I can have a little snow moth on my bookcase later on. After the class, the local theater troop were starting a month-long run of Tartuffe. I had fun crinkling a bag of corn nuts to dad's annoyance. He begged to go along when he found out about my trip.

I got a second job at a local radio station last october, so I'm making better progress on paying back my student loans, have plenty of time to read and relax, and buckling back down on my diet. Chances are good of reaching the weight I need to hit the BUPERS waiting list before thanksgiving and free myself if the morning bozos keep sandpapering my heat rash.

Got a new gaming controller for my mini after wearing myself out at the Y this afternoon so I can play borderlands, etc on the weekends. Started to enjoy config after I realized the array layout and axis designations. Apple dropped gamepad recognition from the OS sometime ago when I wasn't paying attention, but 5 bucks isn't bad for a button mapping app.

Hearing a little every now and then from my sister in Savannah, so I'm not tossing Bacefook away just yet.

I was excited by the WWDC back on June 2, and immediately read the Swift manual. Hey, I recognize this! Now how about a 2014 mac mini in the fall lineup.

I can't go to my con because it keeps getting cancelled...Dave!
