Full update, yay!! Read on for Week 2, Day 2.
So I finally managed to complete an entire day's (for week 2) designated yoga practice during one session of about 30-35 minutes. Today was 4 mini Sun Salutations, 2 full Sun Salutations and a series of standing poses followed by seated cross legged pose, relaxation pose, and meditation. I admit that I did modify the meditation - instead of doing a pranayama practice during relaxation pose, I did the 61-points of light meditation I learned at the Himalayan Institute (PA location) and only sat in the designated cross legged meditation posture for a few final breaths.
Overall, I think that today was a good and productive yoga practice. Looking at the time it took me to complete the various series, I think some of my breath timing needs to be adjusted. I know that sometimes I only inhaled or exhaled in a pose rather than taking 1 full breath in the Sun Salutation poses. I am sure that this reduced my practice time, but it felt right to complete the poses in the manner I did. Yoga is one of those "I'm ok, you're ok" kind of things. The practicing yogi needs to pay attention to his/her body. Anything that is designated by an outside individual should be seen more as guidelines (like the pirate's code).
When I woke up this morning (later than I wished) I was feeling pretty phlegm-y, not just in the throat and sinus cavities, but throughout my whole body. After drinking some hot water and practicing yoga, my body feels a bit clearer. I am still nursing some whole body headache-y symptoms, but hopefully that will clear itself up with some good food, productive work, and exercise.
Laters!
