I'm guessing, but I imagine it's both frustrating and sad that you'll never be able to talk to your grand dad about this. Many *hugs*.

It is ... I'd love to know the whole story, and I think it's so sad that Gran has felt she always had to hide it from us all. I'm sure we'll never know the name of the soldier guy, or what really happened in those 3 years ... I doubt Gran would even remember much of it now, and her brother didn't ever know his name.
