He doesn't really know what he's feeling at this point-- it could be anger, or sadness or panic or relief. There's a whole mess of things inside his head, tightening his throat and turning his stomach to a knot of ice, but it's all buried under a thick sheet of... nothing. It's a scary thing, feeling so numb as he walks through the masses of injured passengers, like he's just not really feeling anything at all because he just doesn't want to right now. He just needs to make sure everyone is alright, that's all. That's all

Zeke thinks quick. Desperate times call for desperate measures. He holds out his hands and talks quietly but firmly.

"Kid. Herz. Just calm down for me for a sec, alright? Hand Link over t'me; I'll take care of him. I'll get him patched up. It'll be fine."

He doesn't advance because he's afraid Herz will up and bolt. Which really wouldn't solve anything.

"Gotta patch 'im up so he stops bleedin'. And you need some clothes, alright?"

You are very lucky that the clothes comment doesn't register just yet. But the part about helping Link? Gets through loud and clear.

He lets the boy out of his strangle hold, and nudges him into Zeke's direction while he looks up to his fellow cook. Herz opens his mouth, wanting to say something, but nothing comes out. He continues to shake.

No wait! That's not what's supposed to happen here, okay?! He's supposed to take care of Herz and he can't do that if he's not here, as in right here-- this should be obvious, Zeke. Link is a little messed up right now though, and trying to communicate why he doesn't want to leave (plus, he'd been intending to wait until other people who needed the supplies more than him were done) is somewhat beyond him at the moment. He looks between Herz and Zeke helplessly, not moving either way besides pointing in Herz's direction like it will explain everything.

"It's alright, kiddo. Just stay right there. Don't move. Both of ya."

And with that, Zeke is gone, but back almost instantly. He grabbed a pair of pants for Herz and armful of medical supplies for Link. Zeke places the pants in front of Herz and dumps the supplies on the floor.

"You," he points at Herz. "Put those on. Breathe through your nose."

"And you," while pointing at Link, "sit down. Herz'll be fine, alright?"
