The Coup ~seventh descent~

Jan 20, 2010 17:16

The next seven decks are identical, lined with rows and rows of cages filled with gun and sword racks, padded boxes, and ammunition crates.  Unfortunately, they are all empty.

One deck below the weapons lockers is lined with beautifully carved marble statues of men and women, historic figures, creatures from mythology and anthropomorphic animals.

At first, he heads straight for the weapons lockers, hoping to fnd a familiar pair of oversized cannons inside. Finding them empty brings a growl of frustration from his engine. He does not swear, not this time. Who knows if the female he's carrying can hear it.

He inspects the weapons lockers a little closer, looking to see if they've ever been used... or if there's anything useful in them.

They are very well used, scratched and dented, the paint peeling around the locks.

So there had been weapons here at one time... which begged the question: where were they now? He nudged a few ammunition crates open with an elbow, peering inside.

The crates are filled with sawdust and shredded paper.

They make a terrible mess when they're knocked open.

Gideon tilts his head towards the weapon lockers briefly, but doesn't bother walking over to them. Although he's sure many of the passengers will be checking and double-checking them, he never owned anything like that.

Instead he walks slowly down the lower decks, the contents of the video he had seen earlier playing back in his mind despite his attempts to block them out. He's almost glad when all he sees are statues, and walks up to look over the nearest one.

It's a rather stunning likeness of an ancient Chinese guard, with the head of a tiger.

As Giden approaches, the statue begins to sing.

The steampunk falls back, startled. What the hell is this? He waits for a few brief moments to see if he recognizes the song--or if it'll switch to one he does if not-- as unlikely as that seems.

It's a wonderful rendition of Le Chant du Rossignol, and several other statues begin to join in.

Mikaela should have brought a bag for the things she was collecting, really. Wigs, a creepy doll...her pile keeps growing. This deck isn't so bad, on the outside anyway.
