As the passengers come upon this deck, they should find it familiar; after all, it is a residential deck much like the ones they inhabit. However, it is bleak and undecorated, cold and unwelcoming. Bare light bulbs -- many of which have burned out -- flicker overhead

This one, however, picked at random, immediately catches their interest. Phoenix stops and looks at Ashelin. Her ears are just as sensitive as his. Surely she hears those voices as well.
The only issue is the sign on the wall.
"What do you think? Do we trust the equipment provided?"

There's a problem, though. That's assuming Ashelin actually trusts the Captain, his crew, or anything that's on a sign for her to read. "Do we have a choice?" she asks. No. Of course they don't.
The voices seem to settle it. What's going on down the deck? "Let's do it to it. If you're scared, I'll go first."

Muffled voices continue their conversation deep in the tank.

His voice is muffled now. "Whenever you're ready."

Stares at it.
A lot.
Then she shouts, "WHAT DOES THIS SAY?"

His first steps are slow and cautious-- if he feels or senses anything strange, he's going to be backpedaling quickly.

A large bubble makes a BLOOP noise in the fish tank.

A large pink fish person swims by, pausing at the unfamiliar face.
It signs with its fishy hands.

She approached it slowly, peered into the water, and gently tapped on the glass.
Huh.

Two large bubbles pop, and a bright pink fish-person swims over to the glass. He doesn't look very happy though, and he signs in frustration at Mimmi.

Who waves to fish?

It signs again. Can't you understand it?

The doors slide open and he looks out, quirking on fine eyebrow.
"Well, there are living quarters down here, so I suppose there must be people among the living."
He steps out and eyes the tank on one side of the hall, then turns to look back at Jere. Hurry up, fishboy, or he's ditching you.

Oh, and he's that damn human Sherlock now too. Awesome. But considering Razer's a good balance to his over complex and military thinking, the fish will keep pace with elf-boy and remain completely silent. Jeremiah's in observation mode, a zoned-out-state where he's too busy figuring out if the space they're walking through is triggered to explode.

For now, he swings the camera idly in one hand, back and forth like it's a piece of baggage and he's on his way to the boarding platform, and makes his way to the tank. He leans in, ears perked, and listens.
This is clearly a residential floor, which means that something has to reside in this tank. There are enough waterbound creatures down below to warrant a tank this large--or just one very large waterbound creature, with this place one has leave to wonder.
So he goes still, searches the water with his eyes and ears, and waits. Jeremiah is free to complain about whatever he feels Razer is doing wrong now, but Razer is going to find something worthwhile down here, come hell or high water.
Or something similar--such as a fishtank.

Though at the obvious lack of attention for those goddamn voices from Razer, Jeremiah will turn to glare at him.
"...this is an exploration. A quick one."
