The Coup ~tenth descent~

Jan 20, 2010 19:18

In comparison to the silence of the previous deck, this one is a cacophony of screams and howls, roars and wails.  Rows and rows of cages and racks line the walls, with hundreds of creatures from all worlds chained and restrained in place, all struggling to free themselves.  Angry red whorls cover their skin, and their faces are smeared with ( Read more... )

This is chaos. Lily takes two steps out of the elevator and freezes in place, staring at the carnage. Slowly, Lily wraps her arms around herself, trying to provide the hug she needs. The scene before her is all too familiar.

Just like home.

Lily peers into the nearest cage, unable to contain her curiosity.

A large rodent stands inside, its fur burned off in places, eyes wild as it twists in its bond. Throbbing red whorls are visible through its fur.

It screeches and lunges forward, trying to get at Lily through the bars.

The chains hold it in place.

Lily stares at it. She's unsure if she's ever felt more pity for another living creature than she does right now. Lily shudders and moves a few paces forward to see the next cage.

A human. Or at least, he might be. Half of his head is contorted with the raised bumps of the red swirls, one eye bulging painfully.

He paces back and forth, his chains rusted and broken. Head whipping up, he sneers, then throws himself at the bars of the cage, bloody fingertips clutching and twisting in the air in an attempt to drag the young girl closer.

When the door opens, he tenses, on his guard, especially still carrying the little one. His hold on her tightens, and he stuffs the camera into a joint of his chest armor. It's uncomfortable, but this way, the female is better protected. He would rather not take her here... but just a quick look, just to see if the boy is here or not.

This is where they were trying to get to. It's plain to see that much.

Ironhide takes a few cautious steps onto the deck, scanning the area with every sense on alert. At the first sign of an attack, he will retreat back to the elevator. His cargo is too important to risk. He steps up to a cage, peering in.

"Sam?"

There's a figure at the back of the cage, breathing heavily. It sounds like its in pain, but it's cloaked in shadow and difficult to see.

He peers closer, shifting sideways to see around him, as well as inside. "Who is there?" he asks. Should he switch his headlights on?

The only answer is a low, guttural groan.

A leg shifts into the light. It looks human.

The various enraged cries cause Gideon to bristle immediately. He's exceedingly uneasy. This is a dangerous place, he knows it, and he promised Kate he would stay safe... but then he sees them. The cages. So many of them...

... He has to know. So far he had good luck in not finding either his bandmates or his former lover, but if they were here... he couldn't live with himself if he didn't at least look.

He approaches the nearest cage and looks in-- although he's being sure to keep a fair amount of distance between him and the bars, should the inhabitant claw out from between them.

A dragon is coiled inside, scales shining black and marked with brilliant red swirls. It huffs once and its golden eyes fix on Gideon, then its jaws open wide and it belches an enormous stream of flame towards him.

"Holy fuck"-- thankfully the second Gideon noticed it wasn't even a person inside the cage, he was already trying to move away. When the flame bursts outwards he tosses himself backwards, out of the way-- although he does feel his shoulder get singed.

The drummer growls and rises, making a mental note to stay away from that one.

Risks in mind, he checks another cage.

This one is empty.

Blood and urine are still pooled on the floor, and there are signs of a struggle. It looks as if it was vacated recently.

The elevator doors slide open and despite the reception -a wall of scents and sounds that should have sent Leonardo straight back into them- Leonardo darts out onto the floor. One glance at the nearest cage tells him he's at the right floor.

The infected passengers.

Cupping his hands around his mouth he shouts -"Raphael!"- before slinging his bokken from his belt into his grip. He holds out an arm to make sure that Michelangelo stays behind him.

No way Mikey's moving from Leo's side unless ordered to. Wide blue eyes frantically search the cages and crowds as he unhooks his nunchaku.

"RAPH!"

He can't decide if he wants to find his brother here or not.

There is no answer, only screams and bellows from the various inflicted passengers.

"Be on your guard," Leonardo tosses over his shoulder, thought not in the whisper he would've liked due to the screams. His stomach clenches at the sound of the screams; if Raphael was this far along, they would have their work cut out for them. But even so, just knowing he was alive would ease his fears somewhat.

Leonardo carefully shuffles through the passengers, keeping out of their reach as the shriek and claw at the passersby.

FINA-FUCKING-LY! The various pointy object that Jane had removed from her bag on the deck with the camera were at the ready, waiting for the attack to come.

She's grinning.

THWAP!

A long chameleon tongue flies out to strike Jane in the side of the head! The owner is... well, it's a giant chameleon with red whorls up and down its body.

"Woah!" Jane throws a fork at the chameleon's tongue as she jumps back. Zombie chameleon. That's a new one.

It snaps the fork up and swallows it easily. Its eyes swivel, then lock onto Jane as it crawls down the front of its cage, jaws gaping at her.
