Sheets of purple lightning and a cascade of hailstones -- some as big as gum balls.

I'm seeking shelter in the movie theatre (covered) parking lot.

It sounded like it was hard enough to crack my windows.

Holy crap. I only heard it from the safety of my apartment. When I went outside this morning the ground was covered with green leaves that had been blown off all of the trees in my apartment complex and a crunchy underlayer of hail. It was neat.
