I have just been informed that not everyone knows the following information:

There are live sperm in pre-ejaculate (also known as "pre-cum").

There is a special word for men who use 'withdrawal' as a method of birth control )

I told a co-worker that one day, and the scared look he got on his face was priceless. Within 3 weeks he miserably reported that, yep, he'd gotten his new girlfriend pregnant....

Oh, those were good times, yep.

Gah.

I'm torn between feeling irritated that adults can wander around with such bad misinformation, and feeling furious at the public schools and the people who keep trying to break sex ed.

To be fair, the guy probably hadn't learned many other basic skills and information provided by the schools, either.

Is that being fair to the guy or to the schools? ;)

Point taken, though. I suppose I should rail against the parents as well.

*sigh*

I told a SFSI caller that, and he was PISSED that I dare contradict what his "fraternity brothers had told [him]."

*facepalm*

IT ONLY TAKES ONE!

What's scary is that if they actually *do* pull out in time, it's not such a bad method. On par with spermicide. But I know two people who got pregnant using spermicide.

Why was he calling you if he wasn't going to listen to new information?

Yeah, spermicide always seemed dicey to me. It seemed like (like blow-in insulation) you'd have a hard time knowing whether you had it in all the right places or not.

I knew a couple in college who'd decided that they were going to use saran wrap instead of condoms. They insisted it was more "natural".

Even after all these years of hearing people's sex myths, I'm still surprised at some. I just keep thinking that there's no reason for anyone with an internet connection to be so ignorant. I feel a fleeting urge to mandate the reading of Dan Savage.

(My rational side recognizes that that would never work, of course.)

Saran wrap is natural?!?!?!?

I don't know whether to laugh hysterically or have an aneurysm!

The good news is:
You don't have to choose, you CAN do both!

I have a friend who recently got preggers because she was waiting to be on her period before she got on birth control.....It never came.

*sigh*

Waiting would've been fine. If she'd also waited on other things.

Ha ha ha!!!

I mean, I dont' fully blame men on this, as women do have a choice as well and you can say, "Stop put a condom on that thing."

Although I will say this, usually women after having a child or being pregnant do take initiative to ummmm... be more consistant with bc, whereas no matter how many pregnancies they put women through, they dont' change.

Its sick, really.

That doesn't make logical sense. Did you mean something else?

Sorry, I mis-read it pre-coffee. :-)

I'll argue that there are a lot of women out there - with many kids by multiple fathers - who don't learn that lesson either.

Best use of LJ cut EVER.

Condoms are awesomely free in GIANT paper bags at Planned Parenthood. My friend Brandi was VERY sexually active in high school, and I remember going with her afterschool and asking for a bag just so she could have mine. They came in 20packs.
