I did participate in this war, actually. Certainly not in Africa though, nor in such uncomfortable weather.

It is not, but my ex-wife and I were fighting in Europe around this time, and comparatively, it was not nearly so warm. Miserable, indeed.

Certainly not. It's idiotic. But I suppose Wonderland would think it too boring to allow events to play out as they actually occurred. And of all the changes that could have been made, this is far from ideal.

Somehow, I suspect not every prisoner has a reason for being so. You may have simply been captured, with no proper explanation.

[He's not going to say it, of course. That would be rude. But everything on Austria's face indicates that he feels like water definitely should have been here sooner. It's probably not the recruit's fault anyway though; Austria is just a prissy whiner who can't take the heat.]
