Lifted from a blog I wrote on myspace last night. It recently came to my attention that I have not written an iota of optimism on this blog since I last went on a deleting rampage months ago. So it seems sensible to write, right now, when I am in a very happy mood ( Read more... )

Did you actually say that to your Dad?
Most of my conversations with my Dad are like something from Seinfeld.

Yes... well I tend to ramble like that alot when I'm in typed form conversation. We only talk on MSN, so I can be eloquent then. Maybe, I like showing him how smart I am... even without his help. Silly really.
I'd love to have comedy like chats though!

As others have pointed out to me, my Dad is quite similar to David in his sense of humour, his verging on the odd interest in the second world war etc...

eg: I was telling someone else on livejournal about this the other day-

My Dad went on a tour of east Europe with a group of Orthodox Jews.
He sent me a postcard with a photograph of the bit of the Auschwitz gates with "Arbeit macht frei" written on it, and wrote on the back:

"Here's one for all you German speakers! What does the sign say? Yes, that's right, it's 'This way to the disco'".

Although, David has not managed such an alarming postcard yet. Nearest he's managed is one from Finland with a lovely photo of a cathedral by a canal on the front, and wrote on the back something like "I swam naked and drunk in that canal!!"

Certainly gives credence to the whole argument that people look for the same qualities in a partner as what they admired in their own parents.

Give him time, I'm sure he's got a few years left in him to send you something even more alarming and absurd!

A friend of mine once decribed a band-to-fan relationship as being like a marriage.

Marriage, eh?? Jesus christ... What a freak! That band should get a restraining order for that head-case

Yeah I know. You know what? That freak even attended one of their gigs dressed as a bride! I mean I know I'd be scared!
