Well, it was working for a day, my Inspiron E1705... enough time for me to at least get 3 book packages labeled up and mailed out. Though I only got halfway in the quest to backup the hard disk ( Read more... )

sorry ta say this.... Dell = garbage... I stear my customers away from Dell as much as I can. If my customers don't wann afork out the cash for a Lenovo/IBM/Toshiba... I always suggest Acer as a good cheap alternative...never Dell.

definitely don't want cheap, but do need desktop replacement basically. Fortunately, my old Inspiron 8200 is still solid as a rock (that really was a great lappy... still is, though past it's prime, because it got me out of a pinch and I can at least connect again without having to pull out a desktop and decide which to upgrade to XP. *shrug* Mike's 8200 is also like 3 years old now and he's still using his, even though he really should have his work buy him a new one by now. All the other people in his company are already on at least their 2nd laptop, so that says a lot for the 8200's reliablity. I will agree with you that Dell's support and offerings has taken an extreme downward spiral in the last several years. But the older stuff is still rock solid! I wish I could get another (newer) Dell built like my 8200 ( ... )
