As far as I'm concerned, press confidentiality concerning sources should be used to protect those who would otherwise not have a voice, to let people who would be silenced by the powerful speak out against crime and evil that would otherwise go unpunished.
When the one being protected is one of the powerful, when confidentiality enables the concealment of evil, then I weep at the twisted use of a noble principle.
Amen - the more I thought about this situation the more I came to the same conclusion, though I'm not at all posotive that I could have stated it as elequently as you did.
I completely agree with you. Sources and the information that they provide need to validated, but the sources should not need to be disclosed to the public. Think of how much information would never get to the public if all sources were revealed? We would never here anything that goes against our government and their spin.
