WHAT THEY LOST: Every cupcake she bakes will turn to rocks. This is important to Pinkie Pie, as she helps run (owned by Mr and Mrs Cake) the cupcake shop in town and loves baking them!
ABOUT THE CHARACTER: How to describe Pinkie Pie? A good start would be to say that she marches to the beat of her own drum, and happily so. She’s eccentric, fun-loving and more than a bit kooky; but underneath the mad-cap ways, there is a pony who shows a surprising amount of wisdom - even if those around her don’t recognise it for what it is at first.
When Twilight Sparkle was gathering the elements of friendship, Pinkie Pie embodied laughter, and it’s certainly something she takes very seriously (pun intended). Making her friends laugh and smile is the most important thing to her, and she’ll often go out of her way to make sure that everyone is kept happy, even if it’s someone who might not be a natural friend. This is shown best when she comes face to face with a Griffon who becomes jealous of Pinkie Pie’s friendship with Rainbow Dash and tries to cut her out. Instead of reacting meanly, Pinkie Pie tries to give her the benefit of the doubt, throws a welcome party for the Griffon and tries her hardest to befriend her.
She is always cheerful, no matter what is going on or what frightening thing may be happening at the time. In the scary forest, where all the other ponies are screaming in fear about the terrifying surroundings, Pinkie Pie teaches them a lesson (via catchy song!) about the importance of not letting fear rule you, and how laughing at things that scare you can make them so much more bearable.
Her cutie mark, the small marking on the flank of each grown pony that describes their special talent, is a cluster of three balloons. This is because Pinkie Pie is the Party Pony! Her special talent is throwing parties, and there is nothing she likes to do better. She’s enthusiastic and chipper, always ready to try new things and utterly unavoidable, even if you would prefer not to party, she will always find a way to get reluctant ponies involved.
Her unique (or perhaps insane) way of thinking, is often scoffed at as being completely illogical, and yet she is often the pony with the solution to the problem. When a swarm of Parasprites - little adorable insects that eat everything in sight - descend on Ponyville, and every pony is panicking, it’s Pinkie Pie that manages to drive them out by forming a one-man band and using the unorthodox, but certainly effective, method of music.
Another example of this is her Pinkie Sense, a seemingly random series of body movements that apparently predict the future. The illogical nature of this infuriates her friend Twilight Sparkle, to the extent that she is quite rude to Pinkie Pie about the validity of it all - although, this doesn’t faze Pinkie Pie, who just smiles and offers her a cheery ‘okie dokie’ before hopping off happily. Even against the adversity of those who don’t believe her, Pinkie Pie remains cheerful and confident, until in the end she proves that just because something might not seem possible, doesn’t mean it’s definitely impossible.
Although Pinkie Pie can seem highly abrasive, she is exceedingly loyal to her friends, and believes in the sanctity of keeping a sworn secret. In fact, she is so convinced telling a friend’s secret is the worst thing to do, she stalks Twilight Sparkle for a whole day to make sure she doesn’t reveal secrets told to her by Fluttershy, Rarity and Spike.
In short; Pinkie Pie is bright, enthusiastic, endlessly kooky and the original Party Pony!
THIRD-PERSON WRITING SAMPLE: The sun was shining and the little birds were tweeting, as all over Ponyville fillies and ponies alike were getting up ready for the day ahead.
That was... all but one pony.
Pinkie Pie was nowhere to be found, and that’s because she was currently far away from Ponyville; far away from even Equestria. She was sitting in the middle of a duck pond in a strange new world, beaming all over her face. And to think, she had been worried this morning was going to be boring!
“Good morning, fishies!”
The fact that the fish kept swimming and ignored her only made the pink pony smile wider. Duh, they hadn’t understood her because she wasn’t speaking fish! Sticking her head under the water, cheeks bulging comically, she made a few glubbing sounds at the nearest fish... which swam away. Coming back up for air, she shook the water droplets from her mane and pranced out of the lake with a happy hop.
“Okie dokie! I’ll come back later and see if you want to talk then!”
A cheerful sort of ‘boing’ noise accompanied each enthusiastic prance, as Pinkie Pie headed towards the castle up ahead. She had never been to a castle before, but she had heard they had giant ballrooms which would be perfect for throwing lots of parties! In her mind’s eye, she could already see all the ponies gathered around playing games and eating her super-duper-scumptious-cupcakes.
Barely ten steps later, she came to a shuddering halt as her Pinkie Sense fired up all of a sudden. Juddering from mane to hoof, she blinked in surprise when it was over, before setting off again as happily as ever.
“I don’t know what’s coming, but it’s sure to be a doozy~!”

Oh wow! What a neat castle! I wonder if this is Princess Celestia's castle? But I'm sure Twilight would have mentioned if we were going to visit.
Twiiiiiliiiiiight?
[There appears to be the sound of hooves; although this isn't a canter or a trot, it's a definite prance. ]
